We all know people who are constantly talking about the good old days. No matter where they are or what they’re doing, life was better before. In fact, many of those people are on the search to recreate the magic. They’re always moving from job to job, hoping that one of them will have the spark they crave. Or for others, it’s relationship to relationship or town to town.
In 2011 Pentatonix, an a capella powerhouse, came onto the music scene when they won Season 3 of the American reality TV contest, The Sing-Off. Since their TV win, Pentatonix has won two Grammys and is on their second world tour – selling out venues from St. Louis to Sydney to Seoul. Most people would agree, they have definitely figured out the secret to success that eludes so many.
My University has a great career center and the year I graduated, 8,246 years ago, tons of companies had significant on-campus recruiting efforts; I was lucky enough to get hired as a change management consultant. However, this is not a story about the job market or how to get hired off campus, it’s the story of what happens after that… when you not only take your first corporate job, but also lose yourself, bit by bit, as you climb the corporate ladder.
