I know that for many of you this will sound backward, but it’s fall break here for my children. We’re heading into our winter season Down Under. My kids are home from school and for the past few weeks I was worrying about how I was going to fit in my work and keep my children engaged, without letting them watch 92,000 hours of television.
Over a decade ago, I made a choice to leave my leadership position and successful career behind to stay home full time with my children. Many of the women I met at Mommy and Me told me I could never go back to the same pay or position level so I better throw myself into my new life. From my first trepidatious step into motherhood, I was ready to break free from the Mommy Wars. It was a battle I didn’t want to fight.
This morning none of us wanted to get out of bed to start the day. There was a chill in the air and the covers were cozy. Still, the kids had to get to school, I had to get working and we all had to get moving.
