It’s Thanksgiving in the USA and I’m on the other side of the world from many of the people that I’m most thankful to have in my life. Instead of gathering around the turkey, I need to make the extra effort to tell them that they matter to me, impact me, and are with me despite the physical distance that separates us.
I’m not alone with distance from friends, family and colleagues. People around the globe are apart for holidays and everydays – missing moments that they want to share in person. Every very single one has their own story for their separation. It can be easy to be filled with sadness and longing but the best way out of the gloom is gratitude and connection.
It doesn’t matter where YOU are in the world or if you celebrate Thanksgiving, you can still take this moment to express your gratitude to those that matter most to you. Why wait?
> Pick up the phone
> Send an email
> Write a personal letter and put it in the mail
> Take a photo and share it
> Tweet your Twitter friends
> Message your Facebook friends
> Set a coffee date over Skype
> Have a seat at the table over FaceTime
> Hold an all-team conference call
> Laugh together during a G+ hangout
> Send a card that says it all for you
> Make a short personal video message and send it
Don’t let this moment slip by without saying thank you, I love you, you matter.
You matter. You are loved. I care.
What are you most grateful for in your life? Commit to letting someone know that they matter – today.

I’m grateful that I got to meet you, Alli, all the way in the middle of the Outback, and to share this grand adventure.
